South Dalmatia borders on the river Neretva in the north and Montenegro in the south. The Peljesac Peninsula is famous for oyster farming. In this region there are islands Lastovo, Korcula, Mljet and Elefiti Islands, situated in front of Dubrovnik which was in the ancient times the centre of Dubrovnik Republic. Dubrovnik is also well known as the location for filming the Game of Thrones. Part of the island Mljet belongs to a national park, Korcula is a home town of Marco Polo, Peljesac and Lastovo are famous wine growing resorts.
