Central Dalmatia with the city of Split and other big towns such as Trogir, Omis and Makarska is in the centre of the Mediterranean. Nearby, there are some large islands such as Solta, Brac, Vis and Hvar. Split is famous for the Palace of Diocletian, an ancient Roman palace dating from the fourth century. The island of Brac is home for famous stone which was used for the construction of many important buildings such as the White House, the Parliament in Vienna, Budapest and Trieste etc.,. Near island Vis is the famous Blue Cave, Hvar is the sunniest Croatian island.
